SEAHEC’s 25th EMS on the Border Conference a Success

On January 27th, 2017 SEAHEC held our 25th annual training conference for southeast Arizona’s Emergency Medical Service personnel at the Desert Diamond Casino in Pima County. Attended by 180 emergency medical services (EMS) personnel and 71 emergency department (ED) nurses serving border communities of southeast Arizona, the conference provided the latest information on pre-hospital care of patients with various emergencies unique to southeast Arizona. Topics included managing agitated patients, “A 25 year overview of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center,” building partnerships to address the needs of patients with Autism, addressing challenges in pediatric care and an overview of issues for Bariatric Surgery Patients in emergency situations.

A variety of professionals from several institutions presented cutting-edge information. They included the University of Arizona: Dr. Josh Gaither, MD, Dr. Mazda Shirazi, MD. Dr. Dale Woolridge, MD. Schumacher Clinical Partners: Dr. Frank Paul DO, Chandler Police Department: Crime Scene Technician Nancy Martinez, BA, Banner Thunderbird Medical Center: Dr. Gail Bradley, MD, and Southern Arizona Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery: Billi Jo Koepke, FNP-C, RNFA.
